A visual tool to analyze the matching quality between simulation models and 4D seismic data
Accessing the ability of hundreds of simulation models to match 4D seismic data in a timely manner can improve reservoir characterization and monitoring, leading to better decisions. This can be accomplished, for example, by comparing 4D seismic responses calculated from several models to the acquired data before performing any seismic history matching, or even after running it to evaluate the posterior results. Here, we show manners of visually compare and rank 4D seismic maps computed from several simulation models, based on their similarities with the observed data. The study was applied to a synthetic dataset, created based on a pre-salt Brazilian field, and allowed to validate models' accuracy and representativeness and to promptly identify areas that require improvements.
