Insect pests damaging Cassia fistula trees (Fabaceae) in Vietnam
Cassia fistula Linn. (Fabacae) has large foliage, beautiful yellow flowers, and is widely grown in many urban areas of Vietnam. However, damage by some pests has significantly degraded the health and aesthetics of the damaged trees. In this study we collected and identified pest samples on C. fistula trees in Hanoi, Son La, Yen Bai and Dak Lak provinces, Vietnam. The results recorded species of two caterpillars, Copamyntis alectryonura Meyrick (Pyralidae), Eurema hecabe Linnaeus (Pieridae), one fruit borer Cryptophlebia ombrodelta Lower (Tortricidae), and one stem borer Neurozerra conferta Walker (Cossidae). Further research is needed to develop monitoring protocols and control solutions for management of these pests.
