Features of stimulated Raman scattering of a mixture of laser dyes in random media and possibility of using them in Raman spectroscopy

Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) of pyrromethene 597 (PM597) and rhodamine 6G (R6G) mixture in vesicular polymeric films is investigated depending on the dye concentration ratio. SRS in this mixture occurs together with the random lasing (RL) of both dyes, which stimulates it. When the RL spectrum of one dye (Pm 597) is broader than the other (R6G), its RL emission stimulates the SRS of that other dye beyond its own RL spectrum. Such a situation was demonstrated at the dominant concentration of PM597 in a mixture with R6G, at which its RL spectrum becomes broader than that of R6G. Due to this, the RL radiation of PM597 is able to stimulate the SRS of R6G without participation of the own latter’s RL radiation. This can be used for determine the Raman spectrum of the latter in more widely spectral range. It is shown that this approach is promising for expanding the possibilities of Raman spectroscopy of laser dyes.
