Acute psychosis after ”puff bar” use
This case report describes a 15-year-old boy who developed severe psychotic symptoms and EKG changes after using synthetic cannabis via "puff bars". The patient had consumed the substance for eight weeks for his sleep disturbances. His EKG showed a prolonged QTc and he became increasingly agitated and psychotic during admission. Intensive treatment with lorazeapm and antipsychotic medication resulted in reduced symptoms. This case highlights the importance of collaboration between psychiatry and somatic care, and careful monitoring of cardiovascular risks associated with synthetic cannabinoid use.
