The driving force behind the development of each country's economy is the level of technological and information development, and it is impossible to imagine it without innovation. At the same time, innovation has always played an important role throughout the development of society. Innovation and the development of high technologies play a crucial role in improving the competitiveness of the economy, security and living standards of the population. In the context of changes in technology and dynamic competition, the problem of management and regulation of knowledge and intellectual capital is of particular importance. Taking into account the irreplaceable role of innovation processes in the economy, all leading countries, including Armenia, among their priority goals necessarily emphasize the formation of an innovative and scientifically-technically developed economy, which ensures the competition of innovations in the world market, as well as the formation of infrastructure and scientific and technical base. The purpose of the article is to study the current state and problems of the RA IT sector, to identify the main factors hindering development, to present the opportunities for the development of the sector.
