THE WORD SOOTVETSTVENNO IN ORAL DISCOURSE: SEMANTIC FEATURES, DISCOURSE FUNCTIONS, AND PROSODIC CHARACTERISTICS

Background. Phenomena characteristic of natural oral speech are actively studied in modern linguistic. Within this form of speech, a number of non-significant lexical units develop new meanings/functions. The description of such transformations allows to see, on the one hand, the semantic and discursive potential of the analyzed language elements, and on the other, the features of functioning in this form of speech that are common to different words. The purpose of the article is to describe new functions of the unit sootvetstvenno for oral speech, to identify contextual and prosodic indicators that allow us to qualify various types of uses sootvetstvenno in natural oral speech. Materials and methods. The material for the analysis is extracted from the oral and multimedia corpus of the "National Corpus of the Russian Language". 150 uses of the unit sootvetstvenno were analyzed. The research methods used are discourse analysis, contextual analysis, comparative and quantitative methods. Results. The results of the study showed that, firstly, the interpretations of sootvetstvenno formulated in lexicographic sources are correspondingly incomplete and inaccurate: in some cases, the examples proposed by the authors of dictionaries do not correspond to the definitions given. Secondly, in natural oral speech, the unit sootvetstvenno is not used in the meanings described by explanatory dictionaries. Within the framework of this form of speech, sootvetstvenno functions as a discursive marker are: it indicates the relationship of consequence, conclusion, provides coherence of discourse, and is used as an indicator of speech difficulty. The prosodic characteristics of the unit sootvetstvenno are analyzed for the functions described above using the Praat program. Differences in the prosodic design of the unit sootvetstvenno performing various functions, are described. Scope of application. The results of the study can be used to clarify the lexicographic description of this unit.
