NEW APPROACHES TO OVERCOMING ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE

Resume. The aim of the study was to highlight new approaches to overcoming antibiotic resistance. Matherials and methods. The experimental study was performed on 45 white, sexually mature male rats of the Wistar line, aged 4-5 months, which were divided into 3 groups, 15 animals in each group and simulated peritonitis. The treatment of rats of group I (main) consisted in washing the abdominal cavity with a 5 % solution of the probiotic disinfectant in a sterile 0.9 % solution of NaCl 3-5 times, applying the probiotic disinfectant spray on the organs of the abdominal cavity after washing and gel with probiotics on the surgical wound in a thin layer after its suturing. To treat rats of the II group (comparison group), a solution of the sorbent “Enterosgel” in a sterile 0.9 % NaCl solution was used, with which the abdominal cavity was washed 3-5 times with exposure of the solution in the abdominal cavity 2-3 min. Treatment of rats of the III group (placebo-control) consisted in washing the abdominal cavity with 0.9 % NaCl solution 3-5 times. To determine the level of intoxication and the dynamics of the course of peritonitis, we determined such indicators as the content of medium-weight molecules (total), the toxin-binding capacity of blood serum proteins and the functional activity of monocytes in the general NCT-test. Results. The use of the treatment developed in the experiment in the animals of the 1st group helped to reduce the content of medium-weight molecules and to restore the pain-binding capacity of albumin already on the 5th day of the experiment. These trends lead to a decrease in the cytolytic activity of the blood serum in relation to its own leukocytes and to the preservation of the functional capabilities of monocytes at an adapted level already on the 5th day of the study. At the same time, on the 7th day, indicators of the functional activity of monocytes corresponded to the reference values. At that time, in the experimental animals of the II group, the optimization of the studied parameters occurred only on the 7th day of the experiment. However, they did not meet the limits of the reference values. In the III group, the studied indicators were significantly reduced relative to the reference values during the entire study. Conclusions. In the first experimental group, 66.7 % of animals survived, in the second group - 53.3 %, while in the third group - all animals died, which indicates the ineffectiveness of the sanitation of the abdominal cavity with a 0.9 % NaCl solution for widespread peritonitis. We have established that probiotic disinfectants are effective for the sanitation of the abdominal cavity in case of peritonitis, which has been proven by experimental research and opens a new era in the treatment of peritonitis.
