Embodied and Intelligent Approaches to Cultural Information Retrieval
In recent years, advancements in information technology have transformed how we search for and retrieve data. While search engines remain a widely used tool, emerging innovations such as Large Language Models (LLMs) and humanoid robots are offering new possibilities for information retrieval. In educational contexts, the shift from traditional printed resources to digital methods has made search engines the predominant tool for accessing information. However, newer approaches—like Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven models that respond to targeted questions, and humanoid robots that deliver pre-programmed or AI-assisted answers—are being explored for their educational potential. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of these technologies by comparing the use of LLMs and the NAO robot with traditional search engines in the context of cultural information retrieval. Central to the study is NAO’s anthropomorphic design and friendly behavior, which may enhance engagement among young students. This research explores how these different tools can enrich educational experiences and facilitate cultural learning.
