Application of the Orienteering Problem Model to Tourist Locations in Bandung City
Bandung is one of the largest cities in Indonesia, which known for delicious culinary, natural attractions, historical sites, and various other entertainment venues. This condition makes Bandung a popular tourist destination for vacation. Tourists often face difficulties in determining which location or activity to choose because of the many choices of activities and locations spread across Bandung. Tourist’s limited time during their visit further complicates this decision-making process. Tourists want to maximize their satisfaction without exceeding the limited time they have. This problem can be modelled as an orienteering problem, where the goal is to maximize tourist satisfaction within the given constraints. The main constraint in this scenario is time. The time considered is the travel time between locations and the visiting time. To solve this problem, data on the level of satisfaction and the coordinate of each location must be collected. The results of this study are the identification of optimal travel routes and locations to visit without violating time constraints while maximizing overall satisfaction. The results show that, within a time limit of 480 minutes, three destinations can be visited, resulting in a total satisfaction score of 26,1.
