Modeling and Simulation of BLDC Motor Drive with Bipolar PWM Six-Step Commutation for Speed Regulation System
This paper presents the speed regulation of the brushless direct current (BLDC) motor. The parameters of the BLDC motor were discovered and evaluated by experimental work. Speed regulation for BLDC motor drive is crucial, used to get a quick response when the speed changes. The speed control used the concept of bipolar pulsed width modulation (PWM) six-step commutation. The control method used is Proportional-Integrator (PI) with parameter Kp = 0.008 and Ki = 0.1. The speed of the BLDC motor can be controlled using PI control based on the appropriate reference value. At nominal speed and torque, the system without PI control generates error steady state (ESS) by 0.0124% with a settling time of 0.12 s and the oscillation undergoes in the system. In a closed-loop system with PI control, ESS generated is 0.0032% with a settling time of 0.014 s. The designed PI control can significantly reduce ESS by 74% on a system compared to ESS without PI control, so the system works in steady condition.
