Contemplating Society, Self, and Nature During an Ecological Disaster
We aim to analyze two books that explore ecology and the challenge of saving the planet within the framework of contemporary socio‐economic conditions. The first book, by Latour and Schultz (2022), offers a theoretical exploration with practical implications, focusing on the creation of an ecological class capable of collective agency to drive socio‐economic change. The second book, authored by Schultz (2023), is a deeply personal narrative that serves as both a warning and a reflection on life and emotions in the Anthropocene, emphasizing the need for profound introspection. Our analysis of these works will adopt a contemplative sociological perspective.
