A 1200 Wp Solar Powered Smart Microgrid Implementation for Practical Education Purposes in Semarang
In recent times, the reliance on fossil fuels as an energy source remains significantly high. The centralized nature of fossil fuel-based energy production, managed far from communities due to national security and stability factors, has seemingly left behind the shadow of energy crises as experienced in many countries. Nevertheless, the global awareness of alternative energy from green sources appears to be an intriguing trend to explore, considering Indonesia’s promising diversity and availability of green energy. This needs to be managed and utilized as a preemptive effort by creating an alternative energy production system. Distributed Energy Resources is one concept that can be a solution in realizing national energy resilience, starting from a local scale, in this case, specifically discussing solar-powered microgrids. However, a good, brief, and relevant solar microgrid educational module still hard to find in Semarang City. A simple module with SCADA system should be made to maintain the module relevance and to be a solution for the related issue. Through this writing, the author describes the model and operation of implementing a microgrid system for educational purposes and to build awareness of the importance of resilience in the energy sector. The implemented system itself, already meets the current technology demand with IOT capability to provide inter network tele-measuring and tele-controlling knowledge. This 1200 Wp capacity system successfully tested at KODAM IV/Diponegoro with all operation modes and SCADA concept implementation to provide intelligible module for education.
