Approach Towards Correlation-based Storage Assignment: A Systematic Literature Review
Correlation-based storage assignment in warehouses places frequently co-ordered products in proximity to improve order picking efficiency. This study analyzes and classifies various storage systems, methods, and their performance evaluations in existing literature. The review shows that most studies concentrate on picker-to-parts systems, while recent trends are shifting towards automated parts-to-picker systems. We provide a classification framework for the methods used in these studies to achieve correlation-based storage and evaluate their performance. The paper concludes by recommending future research into parts-to-picker systems, scattered storage assignments, and the integration of multiple warehousing decision problems.
