Blockchain Technology Model to Increase Transparency in the Distribution of Aid to Disaster Victims

Indonesia is a country with a high potential for natural disasters. Almost every year in Indonesia, natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and other natural disasters occur. Several humanitarian organizations have taken the initiative to aid victims of natural disasters. The aid distribution process using conventional systems cannot provide transparent and accurate information on the distribution of aid to victims of natural disasters. Donors cannot find out information on the allocation of aid for disaster victims in real time and transparently because the system used uses a conventional approach. The next problem is that some parties misuse disaster relief fund. Thus, the problem statement of this research is blockchain technology can increase the transparency and accuracy of information on the distribution of aid to victims of natural disasters. The research uses a qualitative approach through a literature review to analyze the phenomena and problems surrounding the process of distributing aid to victims of natural disasters. A literature review was also carried out to study the concept of blockchain technology as an alternative solution to answer research problem statements. The research result is a model for adopting blockchain technology to increase transparency and security of information on aid distribution for victims of natural disasters and simulation using the Hyperledger framework.
