Avulsion fractures of the tibial tubercle in adolescent soccer players: Two case reports
Soccer is the most widely embraced sport globally and a highly popular sport that has seen a significant rise in participation. The purpose of this study is to report two unusual occurrences of avulsion fracture of the tibial tuberosity in soccer players' children who underwent successful surgical treatment. Two 15-year-old male soccer players who presented at our orthopaedic emergency department following a left knee injury sustained during a soccer match. They were unable to walk independently, unable to extend their left knees, and feeling pain. Plain radiographs confirmed a displaced avulsion fracture of the tibial tuberosity in the left knee. The surgical procedure was performed, resulting in outstanding clinical outcomes. An adolescent soccer player's knee joint injury requires a thorough evaluation and meticulous preoperative planning by an orthopaedic surgeon proficient in managing all related injuries to optimize an early return to play.
