Effect of light transmittance of the different paper bag to reduce the occurrence of purple spot in loquat cultivar(Eriobotrya japonica Lindl) ‘Daebang’ fruit in greenhouse
Loquat(Eriobotrya japonica) are very perishable and prone to mechanical injury and microbial decay. This disorder appears at fruit color break and mainly affect early cultivar and the ealiest orchard, when fruits have the highest commercial value. An attempt was made to observe the effect of pre-harvest bagging on development of purple spot and quality of loquat. The transmittance rate was highest for one-layered white paper at 56.2%, and lowest for double-layered bags (the 1st layer is gray paper and the 2nd layer is green paper) at 0.6%. The one-layered white paper, two-layered paper bags with a yellow inner layer and a newspaper outer bags with a green innerlayer and a gray outer layer bagged loquat of purple spot occurs about 0.3%. The results showed that the two-layered paper bags with a green inner layer and a gray outer layer bag decreased the purple spot occurrence.
