Lichen planopilaris presenting with symmetrical patchy alopecia of the beard
We present a case series of three male patients who developed symmetrical patches of alopecia dermoscopically and histopathologically consistent with lichen planopilaris (LPP) in the beard. One patient subsequently developed scarring hair loss along the frontotemporal hairline, but the other two did not experience any scalp hair loss. Our study highlights LPP as a differential diagnosis for beard alopecia, even in the absence of scalp hair loss.
