CONFIRMATORY FACTOR MODEL OF LEARNING ENGAGEMENT: COSMETOLOGY STUDENTS IN VOCATIONAL COLLEGES IN CHENGDU
This study conducted an analysis of the learning engagement of students in Chinese beauty vocational colleges through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The research goal was to evaluate the validity and consistency of the three dimensions of learning engagement: cognitive engagement, emotional engagement, and behavioral engagement. We constructed validity using a survey research design, which involved a questionnaire survey of 372 subjects. We ran descriptive statistics with mean, standard deviation, frequency, and percentage, followed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The research findings confirmed the three-dimensional model of students’ engagement with cosmetology in vocational colleges in Chengdu. Moreover, it has been revealed that emotional, cognitive, and behavioral engagement played crucial roles in learning engagement in cosmetology courses, from the most significant to the least, respectively. Moreover, future research and implications of the model were also recommended to improve cosmetology education in vocational colleges in Chengdu and in other parts of China.
