A STUDY ON THE INFLUENCE OF EMPLOYEE AGE ON WORK PERFORMANCE IN ENTERPRISES - USING PERSONAL IT SKILLS AS AN INTERMEDIARY

The aging population in China has significant implications for the workforce, particularly in terms of potential declines in work efficiency within enterprises. This study examines the influence of employee age on job performance, mediated by personal IT ability and moderated by organizational support and work attitude. The research reveals a significant negative correlation between employee age and both job performance and personal IT proficiency. Conversely, personal IT proficiency shows a significant positive correlation with job performance. Personal IT proficiency mediates the relationship between employee age and job performance. Additionally, organizational support and work attitude serve as moderating factors in the relationship between personal IT proficiency and job performance. This article contributes to the research on the relationship between employee age and job performance in enterprises by developing a conceptual model that positions personal IT proficiency as a mediating variable. Furthermore, it examines the moderating effects of organizational support and work attitude within this framework. The study offers empirical evidence and strategic recommendations for enterprises on how to effectively manage and train middle-aged and elderly employees to enhance their job performance.
