Rubottom Oxidation Reaction Inspired Divergent Synthesis of α‐Hydroxy Amidines, α‐Bromo Amidines and Tribrominated Indole Derivatives
Abstract A Rubottom‐type oxidation of N ‐ β ‐aminoacrylate substituted indoles with m ‐CPBA, providing direct routes to a series of α‐hydroxy amidines was reported. In addition, inspired by this oxidation reaction, a solvent‐controlled switchable bromination of N ‐ β ‐aminoacrylate substituted indoles selectively leading to either 3,3‐dibromo‐oxindole based α‐bromo amidines or tribromo‐substituted indole derivatives was also developed.
