Tendências e desafios para a América Latina à luz das reconfigurações do sistema mundial: Uma análise geopolítica desde o Sul Global

Among the countless ongoing tensions within the world system, this article focused on the debate about two geopolitical processes: the hegemonic dispute between the United States and China and the global climate crisis. In light of this context, we will debate the political-economic and territorial implications for Latin America. We consider that the development of both processes, due to their dimensions and complexities, have the capacity to modify the established international order and we argue that the region has a central role in this scenario. From a theoretical point of view, we mobilize the framework of critical geopolitics and center our perspective from the Global South.

Abstract

Among the countless ongoing tensions within the world system, this article focused on the debate about two geopolitical processes: the hegemonic dispute between the United States and China and the global climate crisis. In light of this context, we will debate the political-economic and territorial implications for Latin America. We consider that the development of both processes, due to their dimensions and complexities, have the capacity to modify the established international order and we argue that the region has a central role in this scenario. From a theoretical point of view, we mobilize the framework of critical geopolitics and center our perspective from the Global South.
