Cover Feature: π‐Conjugation as a Direct Estimate of Lewis Acidity (Chem. Asian J. 3/2025)
The cover shows how the relative Lewis acidity of a given Lewis acid can be directly estimated by computing the pi-conjugative strength in trans-crotonaldehyde-Lewis acid complexes (the species used in the well-known Childs’ Lewis acidity scale). The (easy-to-compute) values given by the Energy Decomposition Analysis - Natural Orbital for Chemical Valence (EDA-NOCV) approach constitute a reliable and alternative Lewis acidity scale which may even be used to predict the acidity of hitherto unknown Lewis acids.
