MUTARRİZÎ VE EL-İḲNÂʿ ADLI YAZMA ESERİNDE HARFLERE YAKLAŞIMI

There are seven copies of the manuscript book, which was penned approximately eight hundred years ago, have been available in the world. One of the most important copies of the work is in the Atıf Efendi Collection of the Suleymaniye Library in Istanbul. References are made in the article using this manuscript copy. The work has 250 leaves and is divided into four sections as ’Nouns‘, ’Verbs‘, ’Letters‘ and ’Syntax'. Each section, on the other hand, is divided into four main headings and then into numerous subheadings. The fact that, apart from a few studies on al-Iqna, no scientific work has been done under this title so far, that Mutarrizi’s work is not widely known despite his being famous among scientists, and that we wish to present such a valuable work to the scientific world and reveal the contribution of our ancestors to the Arabic language constitutes the reason for this study. As set out in this article, al-Iqna handles the topics in a different way. The innovations brought by the writer to the teaching of the Arabic language greatly increase the importance of the work.Mutarrizi explains letters/prepositions that are factors on nouns and verbs in the sentence in the first main title, letters/prepositions that are not factors in the second main title, but contribute to meaning, letters/prepositions that have a disagreement amoung the scientists in the third main title, and letters/prepositions that have a difference of opinion on it in the last main title. Our study was conducted using the screening and classification method, and the findings obtained were examined under three main headings. At the end of the study, it was determined that the author benefited from the ideas of previous scientists, but also developed a unique style and perspective with the classifications he made.It is viewed that Mutarrizi briefly explains the topics with clear and understandable examples. The work provides those who are just starting to learn Arabic with the opportunity to briefly introduce what they will learn from letters/prepositions or at least to hear their names. The subject descriptions have the appearance of an index of topics instead of details.
