Proximal High‐Index Metamaterials based on a Superlattice of Gold Nanohexagons Targeting the Near‐Infrared Band (Adv. Mater. 41/2024)
Proximal High-Index Metamaterials from Gold Nanohexagons Plasmonic nanoparticles, when arranged into periodic structures known as superlattices, can form metamaterials capable of manipulating light-matter interactions. In article number 2405650, Gi-Ra Yi and co-workers demonstrate the large-scale fabrication of a planar plasmonic superlattice composed of edge-to-edge assembled gold nanohexagons with precisely controlled gap proximities. The resulting metamaterial exhibits unprecedentedly high refractive index values in the near-infrared spectrum, surpassing the refractive index limits of naturally occurring materials.
