Programmable Chemical Reactions Enable Ultrastrong Soft Pneumatic Actuation (Adv. Mater. 41/2024)

Ultrastrong Soft Pneumatic Actuation In article number 2403954, Yang Qu, Wei Tang, Jun Zou, and co-workers have developed an ultra-strong pneumatic source enabled by programmable chemical reactions. By integrating thermoelectric materials and “pre-programming strategy” into the management of reversible reactions, a soft pneumatic actuation is realized with high regulation, high pressure, and the ability to transport gas over long distances. The soft pneumatic actuation is successfully applied to soft assistive wearables, haptic devices, and sightseeing car lifting.
