Young Adults’ Subjective Perceptions of Residential Environment

The purpose of this study is to analyze the subjective perceptions of young adults regarding their housing environments and to contribute to the development of youth housing policies and educational programs. The research was conducted with participants of the 2023 Jungnang-gu Youth Housing Guide project, using the Q methodology to examine the factors that young people consider important in their living conditions. The analysis revealed that young adults tend to prioritize housing affordability, asset value, and neighborhood safety. These findings suggest that youth housing policies need to go beyond simple housing cost support to focus on enhancing economic stability, increasing asset value, and improving safety. This study emphasizes the necessity of developing policies and housing education programs that reflect the diverse housing needs of young adults, providing them with the right information to support their independence in the housing market.
