This study focuses on Kim Hyeong-bok, a reporter for the Korean version of the Chosun Shinmun , as a journalist who cooperated with Japan’s rule of Chosun. I tracked down the pen name reporter ‘Geumdangsaeng’ in the Korean version of Chosun Shinmun and found out that he was Kim Hyeongbok, a journalist who worked at Sisa Newspaper and Gando Daily Newspaper in the 1920s and 1930s. This study analyzed Kim Hyeong-bok’s articles in the Korean version of the Chosun Shinmun and found that his starting point as a collaborative journalist was his activities as a reporter for the Korean version of the Chosun Shinmun. As a result of analyzing Present Chosun and Argument against abolition of Chinese Characters published by Kim Hyeongbok in 1917, it was found that the publication plan originated from the reporter’s activities for the Korean version of the Chosun Shinmun. Choi Chan-sik, who had a close relationship with Kim Hyeong-bok, disseminated ‘Self-Help’ through literature in the Korean version of the Chosun Shinmun . This study will be helpful in identifying the personal networks of intellectuals who accepted the ‘Self-Help’ in the 1910s.
