Mechanical and chemical wear of epoxy composites filled with waste bricks

For the purpose of sustainability, this study investigates a novel composite material composed of epoxy resin and up to 70 % waste bricks by mass, primarily derived from cement-based materials and bricks. This innovative approach addresses the inefficiency of current waste brick reuse practices, which typically integrate only 20 % waste bricks. The research focuses on the material's resistance to mechanical wear (abrasion) and chemical degradation under aggressive environmental conditions, including exposure to oxidizing agents and chemical solutions. The study evaluates the effects of these environments on the composite surface, providing insights into the wear mechanisms of the material. The findings highlight the potential of this composite to significantly enhance the durability and sustainability of construction materials, ensuring their resilience to everyday environmental impacts while expanding the possibilities for large-scale waste brick reuse. This represents a notable advancement in sustainable construction practices.
