Cariera prepozitului de Sibiu în regatul Ungariei, sub regii arpadieni și angevini în secolele XII−XIV
In the 12th–14th centuries, an administrative-territorial structure with a special status functioned in southern Transylvania. At first it was subordinated to the diocese of Rome, then to the archbishopric of Esztergom. Thus, it maintained its autonomy from the diocese of Transylvania. During its history, the provosts named at the head of this ecclesiastic institution in Sibiu enjoyed all the prestige that came along with this position within the Hungarian Realm. Among these provosts there are a number of individuals who used their position to gain access to other offices, such as that of bishop, or who simultaneously also occupied positions at the court of the king. The present study aims to present the careers of the provost of Sibiu within the kingdom of Hungary, analysing the edited documents.
