Skin Type Profiling through Computer Vision and Nearest Neighbor Methods for Targeted Skincare Recommendations
This proposed computer vision system is an innovative solution to help in being revolutionary in dermatological diagnostics and personalized skincare. In using the latest image analysis techniques, this system picks up essential attributes related to skin type, tone as well as other skin issues like acne, pigmentation, and even fine lines. This refines the segmentation of the skin by carrying out the transformation in both HSV and YCbCr color space to accurately determine the skin, irrespective of any lighting or environmental conditions. The Fitzpatrick skin tone classification is used together with K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) in order to have a strong difference in tone and hence be inclusive as well as accurate in results. It maps unique skin profiles against curated product databases by using one-hot encoding and cosine similarity to give actionable insights to the users. It is placed into a smooth, web-based platform that will allow real-time video and e-commerce integration, creating a friendly and accessible experience for different approach sets.
