REGARDING THE FEATURES OF THE COMBAT APPLICATION OF FPV DRONES IN THE WAR BETWEEN RUSSIA AND UKRAINE

The article explores the development and application of First-Person View (FPV) drones in modern warfare, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and the russian federation. FPV drones, also referred to as kamikaze drones, have become a crucial element in tactical operations, offering high maneuverability and real-time control through first-person perspective technologies. The article highlights that, as of November 2023, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has approved 20 models of FPV drones for military use. These drones are primarily multirotor, due to their enhanced control at low speeds, making them more popular than fixed-wing UAVs. The article also provides a comprehensive overview of FPV drones used by both Ukrainian forces and Russian military units, including those developed domestically and commercially available foreign models. The ability to customize FPV drones with various components allows them to perform a wide range of tactical missions, from reconnaissance to direct strikes. Furthermore, the use of kamikaze drones for precision attacks against enemy targets has increased, particularly as a cost-effective solution in the face of artillery shell shortages. The flexibility and low cost of FPV drones, combined with their commercial availability, make them a highly efficient weapon in modern military operations. The article also delves into the tactical use of FPV drones, including detailed procedures for selecting launch points, planning flight paths, and choosing appropriate payloads. It emphasizes the importance of air reconnaissance and target identification for effective drone strikes. The success rate of FPV drones in destroying enemy equipment is examined, along with the challenges posed by enemy electronic warfare systems. The article concludes by discussing the future potential of FPV drones in counter-drone operations and their evolving role in combat scenarios.
