The Relationship between Interpersonal Mindfulness, Romantic Perfectionism, and Marital Intimacy
This study investigates the relationships between interpersonal mindfulness, romantic perfectionism, and marital intimacy among married individuals. Using correlational analysis, the research aims to clarify how mindfulness and perfectionism independently affect intimacy within marital relationships. Results from a sample of 220 participants reveal a significant positive correlation between interpersonal mindfulness and marital intimacy, suggesting that higher mindfulness levels enhance relational closeness and emotional support. Conversely, romantic perfectionism shows a strong negative correlation with marital intimacy, indicating that unrealistic expectations may hinder intimacy by increasing relational strain. Additionally, a weak negative correlation between interpersonal mindfulness and romantic perfectionism highlights mindfulnesss potential in reducing perfectionistic tendencies, promoting a more accepting and empathetic relational dynamic. These findings underscore the benefits of mindfulness practices within relationships and suggest practical applications for mindfulness-based interventions in counseling settings. Future research should explore these relationships longitudinally and in diverse cultural contexts.
