Analysis of the Power Quality of an EV Fast Charging Station
The worsening of climate change has accelerated the need to reduce emissions. The replacement of fossil fuel-powered vehicles with electric vehicles (EVs) represents an effective approach to mitigating adverse environmental impacts. The integration of EVs depends on the availability of interurban charging infrastructure, with fast-charging stations being crucial to facilitating this transition. This study aims to analyze the behavior of electrical variables during the operation of a fast-charging station, with particular attention to the electrical impacts arising from the use of high-power switched-mode power supplies. Based on operational history, analyses are conducted on harmonic spectra, waveform distortions, and power curves, among other metrics. Overall, the operation of a fast-charging station does not compromise the quality of the existing electrical grid.
