Let There Be Trust
In the digital age, trust is integral to secure online communication and transactions, particularly with regard to the authenticity of digital signatures. This paper investigates the interplay between trust, legislation, and Public Key Infrastructure in the context of Uruguayan legislation that governs Trust Service Providers. In particular, the paper examines, from a critical perspective, the implications of Centralized Key Management, and some vulnerabilities that arise from this approach. The analysis is confined to Uruguay, focusing on local regulatory frameworks and the operational dynamics of the authorized Trust Service Providers in the country.
