Study of the Effects of Assistive Devices on the Gait of a Patient with a Non-Union Femur Fracture.
The study aims to analyze how orthoses influence the improvement of gait in a patient with a non-consolidated femur fracture, focusing on the cause-effect relationships of each orthosis. Two types of orthoses are compared: the hip-knee orthosis (HKO) and the knee-ankle-foot orthosis (KAFO), using an experimental approach in a motion analysis laboratory. By measuring kinematic, kinetic, and physiological parameters, the effects of both orthoses are evaluated. The results indicate that the KAFO orthosis demonstrated a gait pattern closer to that of the control group in terms of gait stabilization.
