Techno-Economic Analysis of 2nd Life Lithium-Ion Batteries Applied to Street Lighting in Uruguay
This study explores the reuse of lithium-ion batteries for street lighting in Uruguay, offering a sustainable solution to battery disposal by extending their lifespan through solar-powered recharging. It assesses the feasibility, benefits, and challenges of implementing second-life batteries in public lighting, using solar irradiation data to evaluate system performance over a Typical Meteorological Year (TMY). The findings highlight the potential for reducing waste, conserving resources, and enhancing grid stability.
