Coordinated Allocation of Plug-in Electric Vehicles and Solar Photovoltaic Distributed Generation in Electrical Network

This research introduces a practical approach to identify optimal sites for Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) charging stations within the IEEE 33 bus system framework. As transportation electrification alters electrical distribution networks, a comprehensive strategy is required for PEV charging station deployment. This strategy evaluates three key factors: actual power loss, reactive power loss, and voltage regulation. Integrating PEV charging stations into the grid increases energy demands, prompting the recommendation for the strategic integration of Solar Photovoltaic Distributed Generation (SPDG) units. This integration aims to relieve pressure on PEV charging stations, fostering a self-sustaining and dependable system. The study presents five scenarios to demonstrate PEV charging station deployment, with and without SPDG inclusion. Remarkably, the results show a decrease in active power loss from 202.67 kW in scenario 1 (S1) to 29.01 kW in scenario 5 (S5). Additionally, S5 experiences a significant reduction in reactive power loss, with an 82.2% decrease compared to S1.
