Numerical Investigation of Thermal Radiation-Enhanced Mixed Convective Hydromagnetic Boundary Layer Flow of Oldroyd-B Fluid over an Exponentially Shrinking Surface

This study delves into the analysis of heat and mass characteristics within the boundary layer flow of an incompressible magnetohydrodynamic Oldroyd-B fluid, considering thermal radiation effects constrained by an exponentially shrinking sheet. Various factors such as heat absorption/generation and chemical reactions are incorporated separately into the continuity, momentum and heat equations, yielding intriguing impacts. By employing similarity variables, the number of independent variables in the demonstrated conditions is reduced. These equations are solved using efficient numerical technique known as the secant shooting analysis method. Reliable results, illustrating distinct physical flow parameters, are obtained for both velocity and temperature profiles. Our findings are compared with previously published studies, establishing a solid affirmation. We observe that as the relaxation parameter increases, the fluid velocity decreases, while the behaviour of this velocity increments for the retardation parameter. Moreover, higher values of the relaxation parameter correspond to a maximum heat and mass exchange rate, whereas the retardation parameter yields lower values. Additionally, an increase in Hartmann's number is found to enhance the species concentration profile. The remarkable accuracy of our solution is evidenced by matching previously reported numerical values, serving as an exceptional case study
