Biogas Feeding Position for Co-Firing with Biomass in Bubbling Fluidized Bed Boiler using Computational Fluid Dynamics

Reduction of coal use in boilers is necessary to help lessen the impact on the ozone layer without sacrificing boiler efficiency due to rising CO2 emissions and energy consumption. Since agricultural industries produce a large amount of waste biomass, biomass could be used as an energy source. Anaerobic digestion is a process that can be used to convert this waste into biogas, which can save on the expense of building a new boiler and help reduce the disposal fee. This study aims to investigate the optimal location of the biogas inlet in a biomass bubbling boiler using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation to predict the feasibility of biogas co-firing in bubbling fluidized bed boilers. The objective of integrating biogas into a biomass bubbling bed boiler has been introduced. The load burner and the first row of secondary air inlets for biogas integration are compared in this study. The outcome demonstrates that the most effective position to feed biogas into the boiler is the premixed biogas in the first row of the secondary air inlet
