Reconhecidas, mas Silenciadas: as Pessoas com Deficiência Representadas nas Notícias do Portal G1
The article takes as its object of study the relationship between journalism and the construction of representationsabout people with disabilities. It seeks to identify if and how such representations incorporate new understandings about disability and about the place-citizen of these people. Based on the discussion about social representations (Moscovici, 2015), we built a model with three analytical dimensions: 1) themes to which people with disabilities are associated; 2) actors highlighted in the reports; 3) representations. The analysis of the corpus, composed of 373 news items published by the Portal G1, showed that people with disabilities are recognized as depositors of rights, represented mainly as victims of violations of these rights, but silenced in two ways: by exclusion or by guardianship.
