The First Australian Trained Doctors. Patrick Moloney (1843-1904). Part Two: Moloney and the Melbourne Hospital
Dr Moloney was one of the first two graduates from an Australian Medical School. Part one of the history of Moloney detailed his clinical career. This part two deals with his appointments to the Melbourne Hospital, his forthright relationship with management, the clinical inpatient workload and clinical meetings and the unusual ‘comfort’ prescriptions. The development of the Melbourne Hospital as an outstanding clinical and educational medical establishment is also outlined. Some controversial issues from his career appear again when related to the hospital and medical education.
