Improvement of the Zero Crossing Detection Technique for Estimating Parameters of Noisy Sinusoidal Signals
The estimation of sinusoidal signal parameters such as phase, frequency and amplitude is important in applications such as grid synchronisation and closed-loop motor control. Most existing solutions are designed for cases where the input signal is distorted by both noise and harmonics. However, the response speed of these methods is slow and they are not designed for large step changes in the input parameters. In this paper, a moving average (MA) based zero crossing detection (ZCD) technique is proposed to increase the response speed in phase, frequency and amplitude detection of sinusoidal signal in noisy condition. The simulations and analysis show that the proposed method is faster than conventional ZCD and Phase-Locked Loop based methods and is also capable of detecting the signal parameters even under large step changes.
