Ethics and Sustainability in Biomedical Engineering: Problems and Perspectives

The paper approaches the problem of ethical issues inside the frame of European Union (EU) Regulations of Biomedical Systems (Drugs and Medical Devices). Technical Standards as well as Law Requirements are properly recalled which constitute fundamental references for putting into the market such systems and correctly using them. Also, technical documents on Ethical Issues have been recently approved in Europe (2023. 2024) which could facilitate to put into practice well-diffused ethical concepts, even if their applicative aspects could be not completely understood and correctly applied by specialists in the engineering areas of design and development of drugs and medical devices, as well as in the other involved disciplines.
