Multifunctional Rescue Equipment for Enhanced Patient Mobility

Humanitarian Technology is an essential part of developing and integrating new solutions for any country. The Philippines is considered one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world, and it is no stranger to emergencies. Thus, the development of solutions that can make the work of disaster responders more efficient has been the endeavor of this research. The study used qualitative and quantitative research techniques to identify the current problems and potential solutions applied throughout the research. A solution involving patient transportation during disaster situations was identified and conceptualized through interviews and the assistance of mechanical engineers. The study also involved deploying a survey to specific individuals with roles in the medical field, which identified what functionalities are perceived to be meaningful they are looking for in a patient transportation device. The response was promising, encouraging the need for a solution that promotes multifunctionality to save space, cost, and overall usability.
