Contingency Management and Assessment in the Albanian Power Transmission System
The paper underlines the key role of defining contingencies and related processes with TSO activity for ensuring the security of supply. The work done in the paper describes the categories of contingencies and explains the methodology used for their assessment and coordination, using the Albanian Transmission System as a case study. The provisions in Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1485 methodologies for the Albanian transmission system are presented in the observability area list, which is important for the SCADA/EMS System. Furthermore, the contingency list should be used for both online and offline security analysis, providing a powerful tool for system operators to define in advance the security conditions of the power system. Finally, the relevant assets list is used as a predefined list for coordinating planned outages with neighboring Transmission System Operators (TSOs), ensuring coordination, and minimizing the risk of cascading failures.
