ON THE QUESTION OF THE DIRECTION OF DEVELOPMENT OF HOMOLOGOUS SERIES OF CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS

The paper considers a method for calculating homological series of chemical compounds of three-, four- and five-component ion systems of chemical elements in a generalized form. When representing systems with a triangle and a triangular pyramid, in the corners of which ions of chemical elements are placed, the geometric features of these figures are used, which made it possible to identify patterns of changes in the composition of chemical compounds in the systems presented in this way, which turned out to be members of homological series. Calculations have shown that homologous series can develop only towards two-component chemical compounds. It is proved that it is impossible to develop homological series towards three-component chemical compounds due to non–fulfillment in this case of one of the main requirements for the existence of homological series - the immutability of the homological difference for both branches of the homological series, for the branch of chemical compounds and for the branch of charged clusters.
