Microservices-based, peer-to-peer security transmission protocol tailored for DPU
Abstract. Due to the limitations of their hardware and software capabilities, traditional industrial devices often cannot support new security features, thus creating potential security vulnerabilities and often proving inadequate when facing new types of cyberattacks. To address this issue, we propose a Microservices-based, peer-to-peer security transmission protocol tailored for DPU. This protocol aims to achieve secure encryption of device links through field programmable gate array (FPGA) integrated circuits, ensuring the security of data during peer-to-peer transmission. Initially, FPGA integrated circuits (ICs) are deployed in front of both devices in the peer-to-peer network link, and encryption functionality for the data link is integrated onto the ICs. Then, through a microservices architecture, security algorithms are decomposed into microservices, enabling scalability and reconfiguration of security algorithms. Through these measures, efficient and flexible security measures are achieved, thereby assisting traditional industrial devices in dealing with complex and ever-changing security threats and network environments.
