Adjustment of PID Controller Parameters in AVR Using the Spider Wasp Optimizer
This study presents the optimization of Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller parameters for automatic voltage regulators (AVR) in power systems using the Spider Wasp Optimizer (SWO) algorithm. The SWO, known for its fast convergence and reliable performance, was employed to tackle challenges in determining the optimal PID values. Guided by the Zwe-Lee Gain (ZLG) criterion, the optimized parameters obtained were KP=0.58017, KI=0.39249, and KD=0.19976. The system reached stability at the desired operating point within 2 seconds after applying these parameters. The entire system was modeled, analyzed, and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink, demonstrating the effectiveness of the SWO through detailed analysis and graphical representations.
