Impact of Photovoltaic Module Aging and Component Degradation on Total Harmonic Distortion in Standalone PV Systems
The study and comprehension of photovoltaic systems are crucial for developing of sustainable energy. In light of this, the research explores how aging affects the electrical performance of photovoltaic systems. It presents models of the photovoltaic conversion chain with MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) control and LC (Inductor-Capacitor) filter. To model the gradual deterioration of the electrical and optical characteristics of the module, aging laws are also provided. Findings reveal that series resistance increases after 25 years of operation, leading to a 0.06% rise in total harmonic distortion (THD). Furthermore, transmissivity decreases, causing a 0.21% THD increase, while parallel resistance diminishes, contributing to a 0.03% THD rise. Cumulatively, these effects result in a 0.28% THD increase after 25 years.
