Analysis of the airspace overload and performance of air traffic control over the Europe

The aviation industry faced the greatest challenges in the last years. The devastating consequences of COVID-19 and the war situation in Ukraine have strongly affected the aviation market. Recovery of the volumes was expected during the year 2024 and a total surpasses of volumes in the year 2025. Still, several airliners called for immediate actions of authorities to European ATC's underperformance which caused several delays and cancellations during the summer of 2024. This article aims to assess the evolution of the capacity of the European air traffic management system. The related research was carried out using the data analysis method. The main goal of the research was to analyze the actual status of the air traffic management system related to airspace overload and to emphasize the need for the implementation of measures that can improve the effectiveness of the system.
